Experience an unforgettable boat trip with a stop in historic Thorn

Enjoy a wonderful two hour cruise through the southern Maasplassen with a visit to the charming white town of Thorn. During this unique trip we pass through the impressive port of Maasbracht one of the largest inland ports in Europe. From the boat you can enjoy first class views of the beautiful shores of Maasbracht Wessem and Thorn.

Discover the White Town of Thorn during your stopover

Halfway through the trip we make a stop in the famous White Town of Thorn. In 1794 the French gave this historic place its characteristic white color. Are you curious about the story behind this event Step ashore for a short visit and follow the historical walking route that starts directly at the jetty. Explore the former principality and admire the impressive Abbey Church the oldest part of which dates back to the 10th century. Or enjoy a relaxing walk in the beautiful area between Thorn and Wessem. Thorn offers a unique mix of culture history and nature something for everyone. The outward journey to Thorn takes about 1 hour. After your stopover the return journey takes about 45 minutes back to the starting point.

During the boat trip you will enjoy a generous slice of Limburg pie from the 'Echte Bakker', with a choice of at least two flavors, such as cherry, apricot, apple and crumb. The crew serves fresh coffee or tea (1 cup per person) with the pie. For the kids we serve with the pie as an alternative lemonade, apple juice or orange juice (1 drink) or one other soft drink of your choice.

Our Burgundian lunch has been upgraded to a more luxurious version. We start with a cup of fresh soup, served at the table. Following this, we present a beautiful assortment of oven-fresh mini bread rolls (choice of white and wheat) luxuriously and generously topped with:

  • Limburg ham with honey-mustard dressing on a bed of iceberg lettuce
  • Beef carpaccio with truffle cream, Parmesan, roasted seeds, and arugula
  • Aged cheese with a tapenade of grilled bell pepper with black olive and arugula
  • Freshly prepared salad of free-range eggs with classic garnish of cucumber, tomato, and lettuce

Eating pancakes in Thorn is of course done with the only real pancake baker, located in the historic center of the white town, on the opposite side of the impressive Abdijkerk. A visit to the Pannekoekenbakker is a party for young and old! There is a menu choice with no less than 250 pancakes, varying from sweet to savory. For the kids there is a super cool play cellar and they also receive feast coins with their pancakes, with which they can buy toys in 'De Kluis van het Huis', the toy store of the restaurant!

  • You can walk to the Pannekoekenbakker in 600 meters from the jetty.
  • Adults can choose a 'large' pancake from the entire menu.
  • For the kids there is a children's pancake of your choice.
  • For the non-lovers of pancakes there are alternatives to order.

Guided by a city guide, you walk past the white houses, monumental buildings, and historical squares, and the guide will tell you why the houses in Thorn are white... Of course, during the walk, you will also pass the impressive Abbey Church - a French cathedral - which is iconic from every angle in Thorn.

You'll use an app that allows you to answer various fun and original pub quiz questions at different points as you walk in small groups. The more difficult the question, the more points you can earn. Questions are divided into various categories, such as sports, music, local, or films, and you can choose your own route.

You'll head out in groups of 5 or 6 people with the goal of reaching exactly one hundred points as quickly as possible. Expect fun questions, videos, and music clips.
