Route to Maasbracht
Grensmaas Tour (group booking)
Back to overviewImmediately after departing from Maasbracht, we sail via the Grensmaas towards Maaseik in Belgium. The Grensmaas serves as a natural barrier between the Netherlands and Belgium from Wessem to Maastricht. We navigate all the way to the point where the Maas is navigable for both professional and recreational vessels! Near this point lies the Belgian recreational lake of Heerenlaak. During the return voyage, you will get acquainted with another Belgian recreational lake: de Spaanjerd. This lake still has active dredging mills for extracting sand and gravel.
The Grensmaas is foremost a remarkable nature and recreation area. The bicycle ferry at Ohé en Laak, water sports enthusiasts on the lakes, as well as the wild animals on the banks - such as horses and cattle - are proof of this. The view of the Koningsteen nature reserve from the Grensmaas is breathtaking; the gnawed trees on the banks also testify to the presence of beavers!
The journey lasts a total of 3.5 hours
