Grensmaas Toer
Departing from Maasbracht, we sail along the Grensmaas towards Maaseik, Belgium, following the natural boundary between the Netherlands and Belgium. We reach the furthest point where the Meuse River is accessible for both commercial and recreational navigation, near the Belgian recreational lake Heerenlaak. On the return journey, we discover another recreational lake, the Spaanjerd, known for its active dredging mills extracting sand and gravel.
The Grensmaas is a magnificent natural and recreational area, highlighted by the bicycle ferry at Ohé and Laak, active water sports enthusiasts, and the wild horses and cattle along the banks. The view of the Koningsteen nature reserve from the river, with evidence of beavers at the gnawed trees, offers a unique spectacle.
