Frequently asked questions
Cancellations and Changes
Boat tours cannot be cancelled due to bad weather; after all, we guarantee you a covered seat during your boat tour. The only exception is that the shipping company has the option to cancel the boat tour in weather conditions that endanger safety; think primarily of extreme storms.
The cancellation conditions are stipulated in article 22 of the general terms and conditions and passenger transport conditions. Click here to view the conditions.
In most cases, you can change your reservation up to 4 days before departure. If you have booked a party or event, we ask you to communicate the final changes 7 days before departure. Cancellation is possible, but there are costs involved (see article 22 in the general terms and conditions).

Online bookings
It is not mandatory to make a reservation in advance, but it is advisable. This is especially true if you are coming with a large group. We can then ensure that there is enough space to sit together. Without a reservation, however, we cannot always guarantee that you will be able to join the tour. If you decide to join last-minute, it is therefore wise to call us in advance to check if there is enough space on board to prevent disappointment on the spot.

Accessibility
Both ships are wheelchair accessible, but the following information should be taken into consideration:
The large ship 'Stadt Wessem' is accessible at ground level for wheelchairs and other aids up to a maximum width of 90 cm; the disabled toilet is accessible up to a width of max. 75 cm. The upper and outer decks are accessible via a stairlift; we are happy to assist in transferring people from the wheelchair into the stairlift and carrying the push wheelchair upstairs, provided the situation allows it. Electric wheelchairs cannot be carried to the upper deck! View more information and photos of this ship.
The lower salon of the smaller ship 'Maaslakei' is accessible via a platform lift with a maximum width of 80 cm; the toilet is also accessible up to 80 cm width. However, independent toilet use by a wheelchair or walker user is not recommended due to the limited turning circle on the toilet; supervised toilet visits are recommended.
Rates
We currently offer standard rates for all our boat trips. We do not have any special group rates. However, we do offer tiered discounts for certain group requests, which are then clearly stated in the description. Under this scheme, you will receive a discount depending on the size of your group.
Unfortunately, we do not offer a special price for students or seniors, although children aged 4 to 11 have a special reduced rate. For children aged 0 to 3, the cruise is (usually) free.
We do not have standard offers. You can always contact us for customised arrangements.
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any discounts or promotions in combination with other day attractions.
Safety and sustainability
Last winter, both ships were equipped with ultra-efficient stage V engines, which can achieve approximately 30% fuel savings. Stage V represents the most stringent emission standard for particulate matter (soot particles) and nitrogen. The new Volvo Penta propulsion engines are equipped with an after-treatment system; this involves injecting AdBlue into the exhaust gases to 'neutralize' particulate matter and nitrogen. As a result, the emission of soot particles and nitrogen is minimized. The 'auxiliary engines' on board for the bow thruster installation (Iveco) and the electricity supply (JCB) are also stage V certified.
Moreover, we fuel with a more sustainable fuel: GTL (Gas to Liquid). The CO2 emissions from this fuel are fully compensated because we, as a company, invest in sustainable projects that reduce emissions. Think of the construction of hydroelectric power plants.
Seasickness hardly ever occurs! If you are worried about this, we advise you to take medication against motion sickness. If any other discomforts on board are of a medical nature, you can enquire about our in-house emergency response team. In case of emergency, they can call in (medical) emergency services.
Universal life jackets are available but are only provided in case of emergencies. (Children's) lifejackets for precautionary use are not available on board.
Facilities
Onboard our fleet at Rederij Cascade, we aim to make your cruise as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Therefore, our ships are equipped with various amenities to meet your needs:
- Toilets: For your comfort, clean and accessible toilet facilities are available on all our ships.
- Bar: Our onboard bar offers a wide selection of drinks, from soft drinks and juices to beers and wines.
- Food: We offer various catering options to enhance your experience. Depending on the cruise, you can enjoy snacks, lunch dishes, or dinner. Our menus vary and are carefully compiled to cater to different tastes and preferences.
??Please note! We have a more limited offer onboard than online, if you want to choose from a wide range, please book the food online in advance. This has the added advantage that you do not have to wait long for your food to be ready.
Moreover, our ships are designed to provide you with a comfortable cruising experience, with ample seating indoors and outdoors.
For information on catering and onboard amenities, please contact us. Our team is ready to answer your questions and ensure your stay onboard is satisfactory
Unfortunately, our car parks do not yet have charging stations for electric cars.
Unfortunately, there are no disabled parking spaces available yet. We are, however, in talks with Maasgouw Municipality to create them in Maasbracht and Thorn.
Both on the Maaslakei and the Stadt Wessem, the lounges are covered. There is also heating on board. That means it also lends itself well as an outing in worse weather. Children can also have a good time while visiting the captain in the wheelhouse.
Other questions
There is no educational material or background information available on board about the locations visited. For this, we refer you to the local VVV shops, for example in Thorn or Roermond.
